How do you keep up with gifting? Empty How do you keep up with gifting?

    Post  •Vicki bans GI• Tue Sep 11, 2012 2:51 pm

I'm a new player (level 43) and have been blessed with the most wonderful friends. Not a day goes by that I don't receive very nice gifts from them. However, I'm finding it very difficult to keep up with gifting them back. It's beginning to take me hours to gift back, and I'm often faced with being unable to give gifts on people's wish lists and my low level limits the chargers I can send. I also use up my 10 collectible limit and tips much too fast, leaving me unable to give back to as many people as I'd like.

It is not that my friends are asking for anything in return. It is because I want to reciprocate! I actually do appreciate that they have given the gift to me, and I want to show them that I appreciate it. It is just not within me to take without giving.

How does everyone keep up with gifting? What do you do when you have absolutely nothing on their wish list and they don't need anything on your gift list, but the person has sent you several collectibles from your wish list? What about when a newbie gives you a collection item from your wish list, but doesn't leave a message? Do you hunt them down in your friends list and return the favor? What if the item on your wish list was just a charger? Do you try to do a return gift for those?

I'd really like to know how you all make it work. When do you do your return gifts? How do you keep track? What is your system? Thanks for the help! Very Happy

The advice I can give, being a high level player is this. Most of us enjoy gifting and do not require gifts sent back. Use your 10 to pay it forward and help others that we cannot help due to the 10 gift limitation. If you really wish to send something and have something left from the 10 daily limit, then choose a Heart of Africa item (col 60) or Sea Life Item (Col 70) as they make great gifts. Don't forget, that you get 50 charging items to send per day, so send us a charging item if you feel that you have to at least send something. Take a look at the players collections and see if there is a charging item they are low on that you can send. Again, we don't expect a gift, so anything you send would be appreciated. Lastly, ask us...if we say nothing, then send whatever you want. Sometimes we might need something and will be happy to let you know.

This is just my opinion, but those who are high level friends of mine would agree to this as well.

    I agree with Skyler's post.

When I was lower level player I too ended up spending too many hours trawling through my friends collections checking for gaps in their collection or which chargers they were low on (if they didn't have anything on their WL). IMO this approach isn't sustainable.

I think there are a number of charging items that lower level players can gift that higher players always seem to run low on. I think you'd be safe gifitng these even if it isn't on their WL or checking their inventory. There are a couple of threads discussing it.

Like Skyler, I'd prefer that my lower level friends sent me nothing or a relatively boring (in their eyes) charging item like möbius bow or Klein vase (I usually have at least one on my WL) than a collection item that I already have multiples of that are for a collection that I'm unlikely to charge. While I appreciate the thought I'd much prefer the item went to someone else who would get more utility from it than me.

I have a system of keeping track of who I gift to. I like to make sure that over a couple of days all of my friends (I have just over 100) get at least one charging item from me. I no longer keep track of who sends me stuff. Again it started taking too long. And it gets more complicated with wall requests etc. If friends leave a message (brief ones are okay) on my wall I'm more likely to visit them first and see if I can help them out.

With the daily gift limits and an inability to organise our friends list I think a smaller number of high quality (not necessarily just high level) friends is more manageable in terms of visiting and gifting. I know that when I had 300+ friends there were many who never gifted or tipped even though I was gifiting them regularly (this was in the good old multi gifting days so if I was nimble enough I could gift all my friends). Sending out heaps of wall requests, to get value from your more distant friends, also takes time.

How do you actually request a collection item to be gifted? I have gotten requests from a few of my friends, but I can't figure out how they do it. I do know how to request a charging item, but can't figure out how to request a collection item? I too am a lower level player trying to build my energy, strength, etc.

Also, is there any way to gain more diamonds to gain more strength to be able to play longer other than buying them? I've bought them a few times but have spent almost $50 and figure there has to be a better way to gain energy than waiting every few hours to be able to enter one more room.

To answer the first part of your question, you can't wall request a collection item. You simply need to put it on your wishlist or you can post a message on your wall asking for certain items. Other than that you can tell people via messages and in our chat box what you need.

Second part, unfortunately there is no other way to get diamonds except for buying, leveling up or from promotions that GI puts out. I do not recommend buying them. Don't spend your diamonds too fast. As for gaining energy, you get replenished when you level up and you can also run a charm, like phoenix, sun or yingyang and a couple artifacts like roses or energy of the stars will help with energy restoration. Any more questions, feel free to post here or come into chat and ask..

I highly recommend running charms while you play, especially an elephant which increases your experience each time you enter a room. Also, work on the collections that offer experience as the reward. Put the items needed for those collections on your WL and don't hesitate to ask for them on other walls too! PM me if you'd like my friend code, I'd be more than happy to help you with the items I've mentioned here. Smile

Mike explained how it's done very well. Very Happy

And to clarify, all I do is put the items on my wish list. I do nothing else. I never ask for something from another player. However, I have met friends in the game who are kind enough to ask me what I want, and when they do ask, I tell them what's on my wish list. At the same time, I do my best to find out how I can help them, as well.

I also have never bought diamonds, and it is my full intention to never buy them. They are just too expensive. There are a lot of tips posted on this board that I have found very helpful in getting the most out of the game.

The main key to this game isn't about getting items, but about friendship. It's about friends helping friends. And in the process, everyone gets what they need and has fun doing it.

    Thanks everyone for your explanations.

Brenda, what does 'PM' ? Is there a friend code I can enter in the game to connect with you?

Tracy, PM stands for Private Message. If you click on Brenda's name next to her message (on the left above her avatar), a popup will appear. One of the options will be "Private Message." Click on it, and you can send a message to her instead of posting it on the board. Hope that helps. Very Happy
