Has anyone else noticed that when they use the Enhanced Flashlight (and maybe the regular flashlight too...) that their beam spot doesn't get any bigger? It happens to me only sometimes, not all the times, but it's annoying!

Yes. Just a few days ago, I had about 10 that didn't work in a row. It's an old bug that apparently never got fixed.
It does affect both flashlights.

Yes it's super annoying! Especially since it locks you out from using another flashlight for the next 30 seconds or 1 minute or so.
Here's how to get around the bug: don't activate the flashlight immediately upon entering a dark room. Take 2 or 3 seconds to move the spotlight around the screen first. And then, use the flashlight. Works every time.

great! thanks! I was really cranky about that one yesterday - I had about 5 that didn't work. But if it is only a timing thing - that can be remedied

This bug has been fixed with the version 1.7 update.

It happens to me all the time!!! So now when I explore a room with a flashlight, I wait for 2-3 seconds to run off the clock before hitting the flashlight and that works for the most part. It seems to happen primarily when I hit the flashlight right after I enter the room.

Nah, I've tried waiting, I've tried using another tool first, I've tried exploring for a little bit, then using it--no matter what, I have about a 50% failure rate. My best strategy is to use the silver flashlight, then if it doesn't work, at least I don't have to wait as long before I can try again. Not only is the enhanced flashlight bug has not been fixed ( and it was one I purchased in room) now the golden pointer sometimes does not glow an item. ( I am a pointer addict). It glows most items on the list but fails occasionally.

I too have had lots of problems with the flashlights. Glad to know its a bug and not just operator error. I was beginning to wonder!
