Items for room search

A lot of people are asking whether the items needed to search later rooms (golden seeds, golden corals, batteries, etc) have to be bought with diamonds.

The answer is - no they do not. I believe all of the items for room search are attainable once you open a certain quest. If you do not open their respective quests, then you'll likely have to spend diamonds for the room search items.

It's like opening a room - you can pay diamonds to open a room early, or you can wait until you reach the level requirement. You can search a room early and pay diamonds, or you can wait until you have the quest for the items to search the room.

This is my understanding of it.

I have a lot of betteries already though I haven't unlocked the lab (stupid air conditioners!). I get batteries when I visit my friends. Does this happen for everyone? At higher levels do you get other things while visiting?

Batteries and runestones come easy. I get them the same way you do.

When you get to higher levels, seahorses will give corals for Oceanic room.
I'm not sure about the Golden Seeds. I haven't gotten that far yet.

Golden seeds can be received (sometimes but not always) by banishing Joe the farmers (or perhaps other Japanese style monsters).

For the secret containers for room 51, I occasionally got it by banishing Little Green Man (maybe Tripod, Destroyer, Xenophage as well, not too sure).

If you open a room, by paying the diamonds, do you still have to assemble things (like the diamond drill) to actually get in? I would've loved to avoided having to collect so many things!

Yes, you're paying to do the quest earlier than you can, not paying to bypass the quest completely.

Curious, I'm working on collecting A/Cs too.....are you putting on your wish list and/or requesting as gifts via friend's walls? I have no friends on level 99 or above, so I figure it isn't worth asking for them as gifts via their walls.

BUT then again, when I tried to send an extra Vacuum tube from my inventory to someone who had it on their wish list, it said that I couldn't (I'm at level 26). Does that mean unless you are at the level the gift would be open on your wall, you can't send your own extras?? If so, I have a feeling the lab will be closed for a VERY long time for me! I'll never get the a/cs!

I believe you can do both ask friends then those who can gift it will be known to you so you can ask them daily. Also post it on your wish list, as now the request on wall does not use the 50 daily gifts allowed, everybody I guess started to visit friends more often to use the gifts allocation. I check wish lists and give priorities to those need assembly items to open rooms as I know how hard it is to collect specially Acs and other high level items. I find it easier if they are on wish lists

Items can be gifted at a certain level or if you pay diamonds to unlock it early. I have around 4 friends that are over 99 and have requested on their wall but they never sent:(
I have it on my wish list and a good friend just unlocked hers with diamonds and sends me one daily. I'll eventually get it open:)
